Hydroflux Awarded Multi-Million Dollar Technology Packages for the Upgrade of the West Camden Water Recycling Plant (WRP)

Sydney Water’s West Camden WRP is undergoing an upgrade by Downer BMD JV to service growth in the catchment as well as maintain compliance of our Environmental Protection License into the future.
The upgrade will double the treatment capacity of the current plant to be able to service 176,000 people and ensure sufficient capacity to service future growth in the catchment until 2046. Hydroflux have been awarded a number of specialist subcontract technology packages that will be used in the upgrade. This includes:
Primary Screening – HUBER RakeMax® technology has been selected as the primary screens and will be retrofitted into the existing inlet works.
Fine Screen – HUBER Drum Screen LIQUID® with 2mm perforated shall be installed as the secondary fine screens to protect the downstream hollow fibre membranes.
Sludge Thickening – two HUBER SDRUM® Rotary Screw Thickeners will be installed to thickened waste activated sludge prior to anaerobic digestion
Digestion Equipment – a large BioCap® fixed gas cover will be installed on the new anaerobic digester being constructed. The scope also includes digester recirculation pumps and heat exchangers.
